NORTH ISLAND: The Raukumaras to the Tararuas: Rain, with heavy falls spreading southwards. Turning to showers from the north tomorrow morning, easing and becoming confined to western slopes south of Kawekas by evening. Egmont and Tongariro National Parks: Occasional showers, easing by tomorrow evening. North Island mountain winds: Southeast, rising to gale about Tararuas this evening while becoming gale northerly in north. Changing northwest tomorrow, strong at times.
FREEZING LEVEL: 2000 metres, lowering to 1700 metres in south for time overnight.
SOUTH ISLAND: Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks: Occasional showers, but some long fine spells. The Kaikoura Ranges: Rain setting in and becoming heavy for a time overnight, then clearing tomorrow. The Alps: Isolated showers, heavier for a time tomorrow afternoon,becoming confined to western slopes tomorrow evening. South Island mountain winds: Easterlies, strong in exposed places in the north, easing overnight. Northwesterlies developing tomorrow, rising to gale about the tops and some eastern slopes at night.
