Coastal Situation for all New Zealand issued at 04:53pm Thursday 09-Sep-2010
A high between the South Island and Chatham Islands is moving eastwards. A trough lies over much of the country. A low in the trough is expected to move southeast over the North Island overnight Thursday to Friday. A weak ridge should move onto New Zealand during Friday. A large low moving eastwards should be approaching the country on Saturday, preceded by strengthening northeasterlies. The low should cross the centre of the country overnight Sunday or early Monday spreading a southwest flow over New Zealand.
